C5 Medical Werks, a manufacturer of medical implant components, reports that it has added new materials to its ceramic injection molding portfolio.
According to officials, the company is responding to increased market demand for "innovative materials that are required to meet the needs of next generation devices," in particular new implantable devices that require more intricate shapes on a smaller scale as devices become smarter and more compact.
“Our technical expertise at C5 Medical Werks enables us to offer a fast track through initial concept, design for manufacturing, prototyping, qualification and product launch, as well as high-volume production ramp in our ISO 13485 certified facility," said Andrew Nield, director of sales and marketing for the Denver, Colo.-based firm. “In addition, our customers rely on C5’s proven ability to shift from prototype to volume production without the need to change facility, equipment or material, which is critical from a patient safety and regulatory point of view.”
C5 Medical Werks supplies ceramic implantable components for many devices including neurological sensors and stimulators, cochlear implants, cardio pacemakers and defibrillators, spinal total disc replacement as well as ceramic femoral heads and acetabular liners.
