Lucideon, an international provider of materials development, testing and assurance, and Knight Mechanical Testing (KMT), an independent mechanical testing laboratory, have formed a marketing and commercial collaboration agreement.
The pact, according to a combines release from both firms, means that both organizations now will be able to offer "a complete portfolio of testing and analysis services" to the orthopedic industry.
KMT, based in Fort Wayne, Ind., specializes in dynamic and static mechanical testing of orthopedic implants, instruments and materials. With facilities in Schenectady, N.Y., and Greenville, S.C., in the United States, and headquartered in Stoke-on-Trent, in the United Kingdom, Lucideon’s materials development and testing expertise is in ceramics, polymers and metals. Testing services include chemical and physical characterization, simulated wear testing and tribology, and cleanliness validation.
Lucideon and KMT have agreed on a pricing arrangement that guarantees that client receive the same price and service from both organizations. The partnership has also implemented a project management system to ensure that joint projects run smoothly and efficiently.
“Our customers wanted us to expand into mechanical testing but instead of starting from scratch and
having to gain expertise, partnering with KMT gives us immediate credibility," said Gemma Budd, healthcare business manager for Lucideon. “I believe that this partnership will be of great benefit to our clients. Lucideon and KMT are both committed to forming valuable and ongoing relationships with our clients so that we can provide solutions and not just numbers.”
Kevin Knight, CEO at KMT, said: “KMT has concentrated on growth and specialization around its core strengths in mechanical testing, and we are proud of the reputation we have earned in the orthopedic industry. We are respected as a provider of timely, technically superior testing services and expert guidance for test protocol development. Lucideon not only carries the same ISO 17025 quality accreditation as KMT, but its approach to business is similar. With a presence in Europe and an existing client base in the United States, and a range of complementary services, such as wear testing and failure analysis, the agreement with Lucideon will provide us and our existing and future clients more opportunities. Together we will be able to support clients throughout the entire
product lifecycle, from product development through to market introduction.”
