Casper, Wyo.-based design and manufacturing company McGinley Orthopaedic Innovations LLC (MOI) has completed the acquisition of Pine Island, Minn.-based DS Manufacturing. MOI and DS Manufacturing signed an agreement making DS a fully owned subsidiary of MOI. Currently, DS Manufacturing makes several components of MOI’s Intellisense Drill, and MOI’s Director of Engineering Adam Johnson saw an opportunity to bring more of its manufacturing needs to the facility.
MOI is ramping up manufacturing to get the Intellisense Drill, cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in February, into the hands of surgeons to improve patient care. MOI plans to obtain certification to machine and manufacture medical devices, bringing new business into the state as well as diversifying DS Manufacturing’s current work.
“While this acquisition will make manufacturing our Intellisense Drill faster and more cost effective, this acquisition was as much about the talent of the people as it was about managing our product line. We are thrilled to have Ben and Joleen Warren and their team on board,” said Joseph McGinley, M.D., Ph.D. founder and CEO of MOI. McGinley is incubating his business in the Wyoming Technology Business Center’s incubator in Casper.
“We plan to purchase several new machines and hire additional machinists and staff in months to come. We are proud to be part of growing businesses in Wyoming,” said Diane McGinley, director of operations for MOI.
In the weeks to come, DS Manufacturing will be renamed McGinley Manufacturing & Machining.
