Cayenne Medical’s Shoulder System to Get Worldwide Release
Cayenne Medical, based in Scottsdale, Ariz., has launched its Quattro Shoulder System for rotator cuff and labral repair globally. The system is designed to enable a simplified, efficient technique with both clinical and economic advantages for patients and surgeons.
"Cayenne Medical has seen great clinical success with the Quattro Shoulder System since its limited market release earlier this year, and we are excited to now expand availability worldwide,” said David Springer, CEO of Cayenne. “Quattro builds upon our best-in-class soft tissue repair technology for the knee, answering an industry demand for quality patient outcomes while reducing overall procedure cost."
The Quattro Shoulder System uses the company’s Quattro Link Knotless Anchor technology for rotator cuff repairs offering control in suture management and repair options, the company claims. Quattro Link is intended to enable surgeon-controlled tensioning of each suture strand, with a cleat design to maintain proper tension throughout anchor deployment, according to Cayenne. It is indicated to accept four suture strands, minimizing the number of anchors needed per case for a more streamlined procedure. A self-punching version is also offered for ease of anchor insertion. The system also features the Quattro X Suture Anchor, preloaded with two strands of no. 2 Force Fiber high-strength suture and developed with a tapered thread design for improved bone adhesion..
"The Quattro Shoulder System enables a truly comprehensive, cost-effective and intuitive approach to shoulder repair,” said Kenneth D. Montgomery, M.D., a physician at Tri-County Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine in Morristown, N.J. “The ability to manually set tension and reverse tension, if needed, enables an anatomic repair through a simplified procedure. The new link anchor easily accepts multiple suture strands, which I have found especially useful in cases with complex tears or limited bone for anchor implantation."
For labral repair, the system includes the pre-loaded Quattro GL Suture Anchor, featuring a unique eyelet design for simplified suture management. All anchor options provide high pull-out strength (419N with the GL suture anchor, 447N with the X Suture Anchor, and 519N with the link knotless anchor) and are available in a variety of sizes to accommodate individual patient pathology.
