Pioneer Surgical Launches Spinal Fixation System

Marquette, Mich.-based Pioneer Surgical Technology Inc. has released the Streamline MIS (minimally invasive surgery) spinal fixation system.

According to the company, the system provides the ability to create a rigid construct in the thoracolumbar spine through a percutaneous or mini-open approach without sacrificing ease-of-use and flexibility. The system features various implants and instruments that reportedly allow treatment to be tailored to the patient.

“The Streamline MIS System provides comprehensive options for our surgeons and their patients,” said Dan Webber, CEO of Pioneer Surgical. “Pioneer has designed a system that includes both implants and instrumentation for a streamlined surgical technique.”

The Streamline MIS system was granted 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in April. Its clearance was predicated by products such as Synthes’ universal spinal system and the Quantum spinal fixation system, which also is produced by Pioneer.

Pioneer Surgical makes devices for the spine, biologics, orthopedics, and cardiothoracic markets.
