Aurora Spine Releases Liquid Bone Allograft

Carlsbad, Calif.-based Aurora Spine Corporation announced the first surgical used of its Amniopur liquid allografts well as the product’s global launch. Amniopur, described as a multipurpose, chorion free, cryopreserved allograft, was used in a lumbar spinal procedure in the United States.

The product was introduced mid-October at the EuroSpine congree in Liverpool, England and then in the United States at the annual meeting of the North American Spine Society in New Orleans, La.

“The clinical benefit of amnion is well documented, we just made it easier to use by providing Amniopur in a liquid form," said Brent W. Johnston, chief commercial officer of Aurora Spine.

Amniopur is touted to provide an anti-microbial environment with anti-inflammatory characteristics and anti-adhesion/anti-fibrotic capabilities, as well as provide a structural matrix for use in filling bone voids and soft tissue.

"The launch of Amniopur is a major milestone for Aurora Spine, as we now offer surgeons a comprehensive liquid allograft solution from a provider they trust," said Trent J. Northcutt, president and CEO of Aurora Spine.

Aurora Spine makes regenerative spinal implant technologies.
