Nexxt Spine Releases Facet Screw System in US
Nexxt Spine LLC, a spine implant and instrumentation manufacturer, has initiated a “controlled” market release of its new product, the Facet Fixx screw system. The system, which gained 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in July, is intended to provide stabilization and fixation during traditional or minimally invasive lumbar spinal fusion procedures by two different fixation methods.
Facet Fixx system includes screws with multiple diameters, fully threaded and partially threaded (lag) screws with a double lead helical thread, and they can reportedly be inserted bilaterally through the superior side of the facet, across the facet joint and into the inferior pedicle for translaminar facet fixation. The screws are also designed to be inserted bilaterally through the superior side of the facet.
“Trends within the spine market call for less invasive procedures that are simple, reliable and reproducible,” said Robert L. Wertz, M.D., director of new product development at Nexxt Spine. “Facet Fixx is the latest addition to our Exxpress MIS technology portfolio and is designed to address this growing market demand, while maintaining a focus on streamlined procedural efficiency and positive clinical outcomes.”
