Medtech, a Toulouse, France-based company that makes surgical robots, has earned CE mark for Rosa Spine, a minimally invasive spine surgery robotic assistant.
This regulatory approval now allows the marketing of Rosa Spine robot in Europe. The robot will be primarily dedicated to pedicle screw procedures.
The first surgeries Rosa Spine ever completed were for the placement of pedicle screws—specifically, for the treatment of degenerative lumbar spine diseases. The surgeries were performed in a pilot study aimed at assessing the accuracy provided by robotic guidance systems.
"We are very proud to have reached this major milestone in the development of the company,” said CEO and Founder Bertin Nahum. “Obtaining CE marking again reflects our ability to meet the commitments made during the IPO. With the introduction of the Rosa robot on the spine market, Medtech reinforces its position as the European leader in surgical robotics.”
