Zimmer Biomet09.27.19
Zimmer Biomet is announcing the launch of the RibFix Advantage Intrathoracic Fixation System, the first and only FDA-cleared minimally invasive fixation, stabilization and fusion system for rib fractures and osteotomies of normal and osteoporotic bone. RibFix Advantage provides a novel alternative approach to treating rib fractures that uses an Intrathoracic plating system.
The RibFix Advantage System was featured at the 78th Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma and Clinical Congress of Acute Care Surgery September 18-21, 2019 in Dallas, Texas.
“The innovative technology supports our ongoing mission to alleviate pain and improve quality of life for people around the world by providing less traumatic and invasive solutions for chest procedures,” said Brian Hatcher, general manager of Zimmer Biomet’s CMF, Thoracic and Surgery Assisting Technology division. “The addition of the RibFix Advantage Intrathoracic System further strengthens and expands Zimmer Biomet’s portfolio of thoracic and surgery assisting technologies, which includes the WalterLorenz Surgical Assist Arm and the RibFix Blu Rigid Fixation System and will now provide the most comprehensive rib fracture solution for our surgeons and their patients.”
The minimally invasive fixation system was developed in partnership with Penn State Research Foundation Surgery Innovation Group.
