LegWorks has unveiled a new prosthetic designed for the physically active. ATK HydraPro, a waterproof, highly functional hydraulic knee joint enables several walking speeds on all terrain, creating optimal balance and efficiency.
“The ATK HydraPro utilizes LegWorks' patented AutoLock Technology, which provides excellent stability for the user even over the most challenging terrains while also encouraging proper gait patterns,” said Dr. Jan Andrysek, chief technology officer. “It also features a novel swing-phase control system, combining hydraulics and LegWorks' patent-pending Variable Cadence Controller to enable smooth and optimized gait patterns.”
The Autolock Technology offers excellent stability. The knee remains securely locked until late stance-phase when its disengaged for a swing-phase initiation, producing an energy-efficient stride.
“Decreased swing-phase initiation effort is associated with more normal walking patterns, as well as lower energy consumption during walking,” said Brandon Burke, chief product officer. “This is important for amputees in order to help preserve musculoskeletal health, but also to allow amputees to walk greater distances without getting tired.”
The Hydraulic Variable Cadence Controller facilities multiple walking speeds on all terrain. It’s an ideal knee for high-mobility amputees who require a hydraulic knee with waterproof capabilities. By being corrosion resistant, users can feel comfortable in the shower, at the pool, on the beach, or during other water-related activities.
The ATK HydraPro marks the fifth prosthetic released by LegWorks, a company with a mission to revolutionize access to high-quality prosthetics for amputees globally.
“We are extremely excited about our product,” said Burke. “The ATK HydraPro is our most advanced and highest functioning knee joint, providing the next level of performance for highly active and demanding amputees.”
The ATK HydraPro’s advanced composite design is weight rated to 330 pounds (150 kg) and comes with a 24-month warranty.
