Old habits die hard.
ODT website viewers' habits changed little in the first week of 2022, as tales of growth captivated audiences. Stryker's $3.09 billion bid for Vocera Communications garnered the most website views, followed by Danco Medical's expansion and Heraeus Holding's purchase of Norwood Medical.
Stryker's acquisition of Vocera, a developer of clinical communication and workflow technologies, reflects the orthopedic behemoth's intention to better connect caregivers and data-generating medical devices in order to boost patient safety and outcomes, and improve provider workflows. Stryker executives said Vocera's software and hardware for remote communications complements the company's Advanced Digital Healthcare tools and will help strengthen its patient safety tools footprint.
Similarly, Heraeus further expanded its contract manufacturing capabilities by acquiring Norwood Medical, a full-service provider of advanced outsourced medical manufacturing solutions in minimally invasive surgery, orthopedics, and robotic surgery. Norwood Medical will continue to operate as a standalone business and retain its company name and management team once the deal closes.
Danco also began the year in growth mode, announcing expanded capabilities for anodized lined spinal rods within its Warsaw, Ind., facility.
1. Stryker to Buy Vocera Communications for $3B
2. Danco Medical Expands its Capabilities
3. Heraeus Holding Acquires Norwood Medical
4. MicroPort Ortho Appoints Rob Cripe as Chief Commercial Operations Officer
5. FDA OKs Paragon 28's F3ACT Stabilization System
