Augmented surgical guidance tech firm Pixee Medical is launching its Knee+ augmented reality (AR) computer-assisted surgical tool in the U.S. at this year’s American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) annual meeting.
Knee+ provides surgeons with real-time 3D instrument positioning in their field of view. Its software uses a proprietary tracking system that runs on off-the-shelf smart glasses without capital equipment or disposables.
“Since our first surgery in the USA in Boston in October 2021, we have organized a successful round of surgeries on multiple clinical sites across the USA. We are now ready and confident to launch the product in the leading worldwide market for orthopedics” Sébastien Henry, founder and CEO of Pixee Medical told the press. “Our solution is the only imageless and open platform for total knee surgery available in the US. We will be at the AAOS Meeting to meet with surgeons and finalize the organization of our distribution channel.”
Pixee intends to add soft tissue balancing, kinematic alignment, and data connectivity to the Knee+ platform soon. The company also plans to unveil a mixed reality tool for shoulder arthroplasty and an AR tool for cup orientation and leg length controlling during hip replacement.
