Orthopedic Opportunity
Business, engineering tracks offer robust lineup at fourth annual orthopedic event.
Very often, “they” say success is more about whom you know rather than what you know. When it comes to the Orthopedic Design & Technology Conference and Exhibition, there’s no need to compromise. The fourth annual event once again brings together industry-leading conference content with unprecedented exhibit and networking opportunities.
“I enjoyed the opportunity to see many of the suppliers in the industry all in one place,” said H. W. “Andy” Anderson, director of operations for Austin, Texas-based Wenzel Spine, Inc., and a speaker at this year’s conference. “It saves time in making introductions to people new to the industry that may not know all of the players. I also appreciate the chance to hear leaders in the field speak on topics that are important to the industry.”
Over the course of the two-day event, conference presentations will feature sessions with industry executives representing firms such as Orchid Orthopedic Solutions; DePuy Orthopaedics; FMI Medical Instruments; Wenzel Spine, Inc.; Fort Wayne Metals; Pilgrim Software; DJO Incorporated; NAMSA Consulting; SQA Services, Inc.; Arent Fox PLLC; Synthes, Inc.; and Barnes & Thornburg LLP.
Topics for the interactive sessions include: how prototyping pressures affect manufacturing; selecting software solutions; making outsourcing and contract manufacturing decisions; planning for a streamlined process; global supply chain management; regulatory policy changes; device design options; and many more.
In addition to mingling with speakers during sessions, attendees will have many opportunities to network on the exhibit floor. More than 400 attendees are expected, along with more than 80 exhibitors.
The event kicks off Oct. 6 with a welcome reception, followed by a keynote address the next morning by well-known industry analyst Robin Young, founder and president of RRY Publications. Young will discuss current opportunities for growth in the orthopedic market.
In addition, on Oct. 8, Kevin Scott, M.D., orthopedic surgeon at the Laser Spine Institute in Tampa, Fla., will discuss the surgeon-supplier link and how the realities of the operating room translate into solid research and development activities, and practical new product development.
The event wraps up with unique patient—and sports injury—perspective from Leonard Marshall, a retired professional football player and executive director of Boca Raton, Fla.-based The Game Plan Foundation.
