The beginning of a first-of-its-kind, three-year collaboration between Zimmer Biomet and Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) topped ODT headlines this week—the two partners plan to create an innovation center to develop artificial intelligence (AI)-based decision support tools for robotic joint replacement surgeries.
Close behind was Orthofix celebrating the first clinical use of its Virtuos Lyograft, an allograft that can be stored at room termperature and is ready to implant within two minutes of being hydrated. In third came Cionic's collaboration with Yves Behar's fuseproject multidisciplinary design project to marry thoughtful design and mobility technology to deliver a bionic leg wearable that uses AI to understand and influence mobility in real-time.
