Smith+Nephew has launched its WOUND VOMPASS clinical support app. The comprehensive digital support tool for clinicians aids wound assessment and decision making to help reduce variation in practice.
"Practice variation has been shown to negatively impact clinical outcomes in chronic wound patients" Claudia Matei, marketing director for Digital Health and Value Based Programs at Smith+Nephew told the press. "More and more, we see non-wound specialists managing chronic wounds. With limited wound care education and experience, this has contributed to significant challenges with practice variation."
The company built the app to boost nurse confidence when assessing and treating wounds as well as to give specialist nurses reassurance their formulary is being followed.
The WOUND COMPASS app was piloted and validated with over 70 clinicians through more than 400 assessments. According to company data, 83% of non-wound specialists agreed using the app made wound assessments easier and the app was recommended by 100% of wound specialists (n=7).
Earlier this week the company also announced a partnership with Rods&Cones to provide smart surgery glasses and digital remote assistance to customers.
