Knoxville, Tenn.-based ChoiceSpine LP has earned 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its Thunderbolt minimally invasive (MI) pedicle screw system. It is designed for small incision procedures.
“Our entire team has worked very hard on Thunderbolt in order to create a solution to the problems that arise in minimally invasive spinal surgery,” said ChoiceSpine Principal Marty Altshuler. “Our design team is confident that surgeons and distributors will be extremely pleased with Thunderbolt.”
“Minimally invasive spine surgery is a growing trend in our industry, and we knew that we needed a very competitive MIS pedicle screw system to continue to grow our company,” said Rick Henson, also a principal with the company. “Thunderbolt is going to give our surgeons and distributor partners an innovative and easy to use MI System.”
This clearance is the fourth ChoiceSpine has received this year, and the company plans to release five more new systems in the next 12 months, according to Director of Business Development Anderson Collins.
“We are really excited about what Thunderbolt brings to our product portfolio as it gives us a sleek and easy-to-use minimally invasive pedicle screw system,” he added. “Thunderbolt will give us an offering that we have never had before.”
