The Small Business Administration (SBA) recognized Boston Centerless as the 2023 Massachusetts Exporter of the Year at a ceremony during National Small Business Week.
A grant from the SBA’s State Trade Expansion Program helped Boston Centerless to facilitate sales growth in export markets.
"Boston Centerless is a great example of a traditional manufacturing company using innovative means to break into new export markets," said Paula Murphy, Director of the Massachusetts Export Center, part of the Massachusetts Small Business Development Center Network. "We have had the pleasure of supporting Boston Centerless' global expansion and the company is well-positioned for further advancement, with export growth outpacing domestic sales."
Boston Centerless currently exports precision bar materials to Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.
“Our growing success with international customers is a testament to the unwavering commitment to excellence that drives us,” said CEO Steven Tamasi. “Boston Centerless is not only exporting material, but also our expertise and values.” Although Boston Centerless has been exporting for many years, international sales have grown more than 60% in the past two years. Recent efforts have been directed toward expanding its reach into niche vertical markets in Canada including medical device manufacturing, aerospace, and oil and gas production. Additionally, it is working to further expand its presence in Europe and Asia.
Laurent Cros, Chief Commercial Officer, added, “Boston Centerless is truly honored to be recognized for the effort of our entire team to ensure the success of our export operations. This award is not just a recognition of our achievements, but also a motivation for us to continue striving for excellence in all that we do.”
