Augmedics, a company focused on augmented reality (AR) surgical navigation, has been named the successful bidder for Surgalign and Holo Surgical’s digital health assets.
This comes a month after Augmedics’ $82.5 million raise to accelerate adoption of AR spine surgery. It further strengthens the company’s AR and artificial intelligence (AI) portfolio with intellectual property and other digital health assets.
“We are pleased to further expand our strong technical and intellectual property position in the field of augmented reality surgery with this planned acquisition,” Augmedics president and CEO Kevin Hykes told the press. “Augmedics shares Surgalign’s passion for developing cutting-edge technology in the name of improved surgical outcomes. We look forward to leveraging these assets to further evolve the xvision platform.”
The sale will close, pending approval from the Bankruptcy Court at a hearing set for August 8. Surgalign began a deal to sell its U.S. hardware and biomaterials assets and equity interests to Xtant Medical Holdings in June.
Augmedics also debuted new features and indications for its xvision Spine System in June.
