Xtant Medical has acquired the nanOss production operations from RTI Surgical.
The company acquired equipment and inventory used in RTI’s synthetic bone graft business, and assumed the lease from RTI for the Greenville, N.C. nanOss production facility. The purchase price for these asses was $2 million in cash, plus contingent payments based on future nanOss sales.
Xtant had previously acquired nanOss distribution rights and intellectual property when it purchased Surgalign’s assets related to biologics and spinal fixation in August 2023.
“nanOss is an important part of our total orthobiologics offering, and having full control over this product line enables us to begin the process of reviving and growing it,” Xtant’s CEO Sean Browne told the press. “This deal satisfies each element of our acquisition criteria and positions us to improve our manufacturing capabilities, capacity and cash flows.”
Xtant designs, develops, and commercializes a portfolio of orthobiologics and implant systems to facilitate spinal fusion in complex spine, deformity, and degenerative procedures. RTI Surgical is a CDMO in regenerative medicine.
