THINK Surgical has entered two new collaboration agreements with b-ONE Ortho Corporation and Maxx Orthopedics, two orthopedic implant makers. The company plans to add the companies’ knee implants to Think’s ID HUB database for its TMINI miniature robotic system.
Think Surgical’s TMINI system is comprised of a wireless robotic handpiece that helps surgeons perform total knee replacement. TMINI first earned 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in April 2023 from an undisclosed knee implant maker.
The company will soon be working toward FDA clearance for TMINI’s use with b-ONE Ortho’s MOBIO total knee and Maxx Orthopedics’ Freedom knee.
"b-ONEs' commitment to improving the experience of both patients and surgeons through innovative technologies aligns well with our value proposition for the TMINI System,” Think Surgical president and CEO Stuart Simpson commented on the b-One Ortho partnership. “We look forward to providing customers further choice in patient treatment through our collaboration" said Stuart Simpson, president, and CEO of THINK Surgical.
Simpson also spoke about the collaboration with Maxx Orthopedics: "We are delighted to welcome Maxx Orthopedics to the TMINI platform. Their commitment to delivering creative and efficient solutions to customers complements THINK Surgical's mission to provide customers with greater choice in patient treatment options.”
In October 2023, the company gained special FDA 510(k) clearance for TMINI’s use with three knee implant manufacturers: Total Joint Orthopedics (TJO), Ortho Development Corp., and United Orthopedic Corp.
Two months later, Think Surgical completed the first surgery that paired TMINI with TJO’s Klassic knee.
