4WEB Medical has earned regulatory clearance for its Anterior Spine Truss System with Anchor Fixation (ASTS-AF), the latest in its anterior lumbar implant portfolio.
The company’s current anterior lumbar implant portfolio has a traditional interbody, with an option for an integrated plate and standalone interbody with screw fixation. The regulatory clearance augments the portfolio with anchor fixation delivery via a less invasive surgical approach than traditional integrated spacers.
Anchor fixation allows easier implantation with difficult patient anatomy, according to 4WEB. It also provides comparable mechanical stability to traditional standalone ALIF with screw fixation. It also allows multiple options to secure the interbody to the vertebrae.
The company said it also plans to boost its portfolio with further products focused on expandable, SI (sacroiliac) joint, and patient-matched spine implants.
Geoff Bigos, VP of 4WEB Medical's Spine Division said, "Adding anchor fixation to 4WEB's existing product offering will allow the company access to a new market segment, providing opportunity for growth."
