NuVasive Releases XLIF Decade Plate

San Diego, Calif.-based NuVasive Inc. has launched the XLIF Decade plate in the United States, and will be featuring this and other new technology at the upcoming annual meeting of the North American Spine Society (NASS) in New Orleans, La. from Oct. 9-12.

The XLIF Decade plate is the company’s latest advancement in providing surgeon customers with an option for a single-approach XLIF (extreme lumbar interbody fusion) and fixation.

“In combination with the Coroent XL-XW 26mm wide interbody implant, the XLIF Decade plate was designed to provide enhanced stabilization following XLIF surgery,” said William Smith, M.D. “In many patients, the new plate design may enable me to eliminate the need for posterior surgery, and may offer a comparable biomechanical construct. This option could significantly reduce the [operating room] time required for surgery for some patients and may allow my patients the benefit of a more rapid return to their normal activities.”

Also featured at NASS will the Bendini spinal rod bending system. The system was released domestically in August as a targeted launch. NuVasive’s ALIF (anterior lumbar interbody fusion) ACR will launch domestically after NASS, and is hoped to provide surgeons with a less disruptive treatment for sagittal imbalance.

NuVasive employees will also be demonstrating the brand new ALIFACR procedure at their booth, the details of which the company is being tight-lipped with. NASS attendees will also be able to view NuVasive’s cervical portfolio and a variety of the company’s other technologies.
