OrthoSensor Inc. has a new board member. Steven B. Epstein, a senior member of the law firm Epstein Becker & Green, P.C., has joined the company’s eight-member board of directors. Founded in 1973, Epstein Becker is considered one of the country’s leading healthcare law firms, employing more than 250 lawyers in nine offices throughout the United States.

Epstein has served as a legal consultant to the Health Maintenance Organization Service, Health Services and Mental Health Administration, and U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare. Chambers USA has referred to him as the “father of the healthcare [legal] industry” and has ranked Epstein among the top healthcare leaders in his field.

“We are pleased to appoint Steven to our Board of Directors,” Board Chairman Martin Roche, M.D., said in prepared remarks. “His deep experience responding to the rapidly changing American healthcare system will be extremely valuable to OrthoSensor as we continue to execute on our strategic growth plans and leverage our technologies to positively impact orthopedics and healthcare.”

A graduate of Columbia Law School, Epstein currently chairs the Columbia Law School Board of Visitors. Epstein graduated from Tufts University, and served as a member of its Board of Trustees from 1999 to 2009. He currently is a Director Emeritus there. Epstein’s enlistment to the board followed the late July appointment of Douglas Leach as executive vice president of marketing and product development, and Rich McKillop as senior vice president of global sales.
