NuVasive Relocates UK Office

Larger space provides dedicated space for staff training and surgeon events.

San Diego, Calif.-based NuVasive Inc. is expanding and relocating its United Kingdom office to a new location in Herts, about 30 miles outside London. According to company officials, the office relocation will enable NuVasive to better execute its market share taking strategy across Northern Europe. The modern two-story, 7,500-square-foot facility adds office space, increases warehousing capabilities, and provides dedicated space for staff training and surgeon events.

“The larger facility in London will allow NuVasive to increase our capabilities in key areas that align well with our international growth plans,” said Russell Powers, NuVasive executive vice president of international. “We are adding significant sales talent and operational support to increase the penetration of our comprehensive portfolio of procedurally-integrated spine products not just in the United Kingdom, but across all of Europe.”

“Over the past few years, NuVasive has strategically expanded into international markets to proliferate minimally invasive spine surgery globally,” added Alex Lukianov, NuVasive chairman and CEO. “Through our unique culture of ‘absolute responsiveness’ to surgeon and hospital customers, we intend to improve more patient outcomes in the United Kingdom and around the world.”

The original U.K. office opened in 2008, and was the company’s first office to be located outside the United States. With eight international offices located in Europe, Australia, and Asia, NuVasive currently has a presence in over 25 countries.

The expansion announcement comes on the heels of a successful second quarter for fiscal year 2013, the company bringing in revenues of $165.7 million, a 7.3 percent increase on the same quarter last year. NuVasive figured the expansion costs into the quarter, bringing operating costs to $116.9 million compared $104.9 million the same quarter last year.

NuVasive makes minimally disruptive surgical products and procedurally-integrated solutions for the spine.
