The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) is investing in its future. The Washington, D.C.-based industry trade group has hired two experienced business development experts to recruit new members and better serve existing ones. Jason Rupp has joined the association as vice president of business development, responsible for overseeing AdvaMed’s membership efforts, with a special emphasis on recruiting new members. Rupp also will be responsible for developing new services and opportunities for all members, such as cost-savings programs for essential products and services; career services programs; and efforts enabling greater access and interaction with potential investors and partners. Rupp brings nearly a decade of experience in trade group membership recruitment and retention efforts, as well as business development experience. Most recently he served as managing director, marketing and membership at the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO). In addition to heading recruitment and retention efforts at BIO, Rupp recently lead a rebranding effort to refine the organization’s image. Prior to BIO, Rupp was director of business development at Warrenton, Va.-based ACI Aviation Consulting, where he expanded alternative revenue streams. He has a master’s of business administration in marketing from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Brigham Young University. In addition to Rupp, AdvaMed has named Ashley McMaster as director of business development. She will work to better integrate existing members into AdvaMed as part of member engagement efforts. Since 2011, McMaster has served as director of communications, where she has been instrumental in developing the association’s Medical Technology Veterans Program to assist military veterans interested in careers in the medical technology industry. “We’re delighted to welcome Jason and Ashley to their new roles at AdvaMed as part of our broader effort to better serve the needs of our growing membership. The medical technology sector is an evolving industry and we are committed to providing our member companies with the latest programs, classes and services to meet their needs,” said Kenneth Mendez, AdvaMed senior executive vice president and chief administrative officer. “AdvaMed represents 80 percent of medical technology firms in the U.S. and we will continue to work to anticipate our members’ needs, respond to the diversity of their businesses, and lead on critical industry issues around the world.”
