Stryker Appoints CFO

New hire comes from dental products company.

Kalamazoo, Mich.-based Stryker Corporation hired former Dentsply executive as its new chief financial officer (CFO). William Jellison will also service a vice president for the company, and will report directly to Kevin A. Lobo, president and CEO, beginning April 22. Jellison will be charged with the global responsibilities for Stryker’s finance and information technology activities, including corporate accounting, reporting, tax, treasury and internal audit functions. Corporate Secretary Dean Bergy, who was serving as interim CFO and vice president, will help support Jellison in his new role during a transition period through the second quarter of 2013. Bergy will remain vice president and corporate secretary.

Prior to joining Stryker, Jellison had 15 year tenure at Dentsply International, a York, Pa.-based manufacturer of dental products, most recently as the company’s senior vice president and CFO. Stryker hopes to tap his experience to drive globalization and cost optimization. Jellison’s experience at Dentsply included an assignment as a senior vice president with full profit and loss responsibilities over a number of international and domestic operations prior to returning to the CFO role in 2005. Before joining Dentsply, he spent 18 years with Donnelly Corporation, an automotive parts supplier.

Jellison graduated from Hope College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, became a certified management accountant and is a member of both the Institute of Management Accountants and Financial Executives International.

“Bill’s accomplished career in managing the financial activities of growing multinational organizations will complement our leadership team in achieving our strategic goals,” said Lobo.

Stryker makes reconstructive, medical and surgical, and neurotechnology and spine products.
