Orthofix Launches Ring Fixator in International Markets

Orthofix International NV has released the TrueLok Hexapod (TL-HEX) system, in international markets. The TruLok device is a ring-type fixator designed to correct deformity and for complex trauma treatment. A next generation version of Orthofix’s TruLok circular fixation platform, the technology was developed in partnership with the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children based in Dallas. Orthofix recently extended its partnership with the hospital through 2018, which is unsurprising considering their collaboration has led to Orthopfix’s most successful orthopedic products.

The first surgery using TL-HEX was performed this November by Franz F. Birkholtz, M.D., in South Africa.

Orthofix plans to launch TL-HEX in the fourth quarter 2012 in certain international markets. The system is on display this week at the annual meetings of the Italian Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology in Rome, Italy and the French Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology in Paris, France.

Orthofix is headquartered in Lewisville, Texas, and makes medical devices for spine and orthopedics.
