The Vector Gait and Safety System helps increase patient mobility while preventing falls and injury.
August 25, 2016
By: PR Newswire
Bioness Inc., a provider of clinically supported rehabilitation therapies, today announced that the Vector Gait and Safety System has received an expanded Underwriters Laboratories (UL) certification to accommodate up to 500lbs. (227kgs.) of patient weight capacity. This expanded certification enables Bioness to provide therapeutic support to a broader patient population and support weight loss and bariatric clinics aiding in the recovery of neurologic and orthopedic patients. The patient benefits of walking post surgical or therapeutic intervention are well documented and if a patient can quickly return to their feet, they can lower the risk of complications and increase the rate of recovery. Traditionally used in the physical therapy and rehabilitation environments, the Vector Gait and Safety System helps increase patient mobility while preventing falls and injury. The Vector has been used at many leading clinical sites across the United States and European Union for more than three (3) years. “Neuroworx has been utilizing the Vector since August of 2015 for neuro-rehabilitative physical therapy. It provides an unparalleled opportunity for the nervous system to respond to real-life, over ground challenges,” stated Jan Black, PT, MSPT Co-Founder and Clinical Director of Neuroworx. “Once the patients learn they are in a safe environment, it gives them the freedom and confidence to perform activities that would be difficult to duplicate otherwise. This translates into greater progress and more complex neurological functional ability. The system is easy to use and allows creative treatment options. It is an extraordinary tool for our clinicians.” “We are proud to offer our industry leading Vector Gait and Safety System technology to a larger audience of clinical experts,” shared Todd Cushman, president and CEO of Bioness. “By demonstrating its versatility to accommodate an expanded patient population we are well-suited to continue our market leading position by bringing the highest quality of technology into the hands of the very best clinical experts.” In 2013, Vector was the first dynamic body weight support system to offer 400lb capacity and is once again the first to offer 500lb capacity, a 25% increase, thus improving access to those most in need and adding a level of protection to the healthcare professional tasked with treating them. The Vector Outcome Measures Module also enables clinicians to run, record and document standardized tests to measure patient outcomes within the Vector software interface. Objectively quantifying patient progress allows healthcare providers to meet the increasing demands of the value-based reimbursement requirements.
