Stryker, Ziehm Imaging Partner to Market Surgical Navigation Technology

Ziehm Imaging and Stryker Navigation entered into a co-marketing agreement to promote Ziehm’s Vision RFD 3-D C-arm for spine, orthopaedic, trauma and neurosurgery applications.

The Ziehm Vision RFD 3-D system combines two-dimensional and 3-D functionality into one device and can be used with surgical navigation products to guide instruments relative to a patient’s anatomy. SmartScan rotation yields 180 degree anatomical image information. The system offers a 25 kW generator with an iterative reconstruction algorithm, and provides the market’s largest 3-D image volume, according to the company, capable of capturing up to seven vertebrae in one scan.

The agreement enables Stryker Corp. and Ziehm to offer a turnkey surgical solution for customers.

“Stryker and Ziehm are driven to simplify the surgical workfow and enhance patient outcomes through broad application, user-friendly technology,” Derek Babin, marketing director for Stryker Navigation, said in a brief news release. “We are excited to partner with Ziehm to provide integrated surgical solutions to our customers that will enhance the surgeon experience and streamline the purchasing process for hospitals.”

Based in Orlando, Fla., Ziehm Imaging develops, manufactures and markets mobile C-arm imaging solutions for interventional procedures.

Kalamazoo, Mich.-based Stryker develops and manufactures devices in the orthopedic, medical and surgical, neurotechnology, and spine markets.
