Orthofix Rolls Out Phantom and Tornado Hinges

Orthofix has launched its TrueLok Phantom and Tornado hinges. Both are designed to be used with TrueLok circular frames including the TrueLok EVO Ring fixation system introduced last year.
 
According to the company, TrueLok EVO is the only circular ring construct with both radiolucent rings and struts to more clearly visualize bone under X-ray, while also providing a lightweight frame.
 
“The TrueLok circular frame is the gold standard for external fixation for complex limb reconstruction and deformity correction procedures,” Dr. David Frumberg, an orthopedic surgeon who directs the Limb Restoration and Lengthening Progra, told the press. “The introduction of the new Phantom and Tornado Hinges for the TrueLok system are important advancements that have changed how I apply circular frames by giving me the confidence that the patient will regain a more natural joint motion. The TrueLok EVO System with the Phantom Hinges has become my go-to construct for equinus deformity corrections amongst other applications.”
 
The TrueLok Phantom Hinge allows for precise alignment when performing joint distraction or contracture correction by maintaining the axis of rotation and joint mobility. The radiolucent hinge makes it ideal for use with TrueLok EVO. Its flexible, spring-like design enables natural joint motion to be restored after a joint distraction procedure.
 
Phantom and Tornado Hinges are both used in ankle and knee applications and are sterile packaged.
