Korean University Team Proves Efficacy of Nonsurgical Spinal Decompression Treatment

A team at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital has concluded that nonsurgical spinal decompression treatment is an effective treatment for spinal disc disease.

Study results of Spine MT’s efficacy on spinal disc decompression have been published in an international journal by Professor Pyong-bok Lee’s team. Spine MT is a nonsurgical spinal decompression treatment device developed by SHIN-HWA Medical Co. Ltd. 
 
Various spinal decompression therapy devices have been used to treat patients, but there were no studies that verified their effectiveness. Thus, medical staff and patients could not truly trust the treatment.
 
In the study, “Effect of Nonsurgical Spinal Decompression on Intensity of Pain and Herniated Disc Volume in Subacute Lumbar Herniated Disc”, the team discovered through magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) that nonsurgical spinal disc decompression therapy can reduce the size of a disk protruding from patients with lumbar disc escape. The study not only shows the efficacy of a conservative treatment method for spinal disc disease, it also enables medical staff to secure various treatment options for the condition.
 
“The characteristics of our products developed with new domestic medical technology are that it is possible to access treatment for each patient’s disease and it is designed to make it easy to manage treatment data for each patient,” said In-kyu Kim, of SHIN-HWA Medical. “In order to minimize the burden of treatment costs on patients, the legal basis has been established so that Korean medical expenses can be claimed.”
 
The company plans to provide the spinal decompression treatment device (Spine MT K1, Spine MT Core) as a treatment solution worldwide as a result of the Seoul National University team’s research.
