A new knee from Exactech, new MIS system from NuVasive, new clinical data from Zimmer Biomet, and a new academy from Smith+Nephew drove the bulk of website traffic. An exclusive account of the benefits of anatomic total shoulder arthroplasty systems also proved popular.

Exactech’s FDA-cleared TriVerse primary knee system offers cruciate retaining, anterior stabilized, and posterior stabilized constructs. Its insert bearings are exclusively available in highly crosslinked vitamin E-stabilized polyethylene. TriVerse will also feature a compact set of adjustable mechanical instrumentation with future compatibility planned with the ExactechGPS system. The company expects to begin a limited launch in Q2 2023.  

The NuVasive Tube System (NTS) and Excavation Micro from NuVasive Inc. is a new minimally invasive surgical (MIS) system that provides comprehensive solutions for both TLIF and decompression. These additions expand the company’s access and instrumentation technology offerings within the NuVasive P360 portfolio. Engineered to elevate the surgical workflow through efficient, controlled positioning, and optimized access, NTS and Excavation Micro are made a complete procedural solution with Advanced Materials Science and expandable interbody implants, biologics, Reline fixation system, and enabling technologies within the Pulse platform.

Zimmer Biomet Holdings Inc.’s new one-year data from a multicenter, prospective, randomized controlled trial is supporting the efficacy of mymobility with Apple Watch, a first-of-its-kind remote care management platform. The trial data show that using mymobility with Apple Watch following primary knee arthroplasty, commonly known as knee replacement, can effectively guide rehabilitation, demonstrate similar outcomes to traditional care models, and significantly reduce the number of outpatient physical therapy (PT) visits. In addition, use of mymobility with Apple Watch was associated with significantly fewer surgery-related emergency department (ED) visits, which could translate to lower costs of care.

Smith+Nephew’s (S+N) new S+N Academy Singapore, a medical education and digital innovation center covering the Asia Pacific region, offers an interactive training environment for healthcare professionals to experience the latest products and technologies, as well as refine techniques under the guidance of expert peers. The facility has a digital operating suite including handheld robotics, 4K arthroscopy towers, surgical navigation tools, live transmission capabilities, and touch-screen interfaces. The digital experience is supported by a virtual reality simulation studio, tech-enabled teaching auditorium, and a professional broadcast studio where experts can record and live-stream surgical techniques to educate fellow healthcare professionals.
