eCential, ChoiceSpine Team Up on Robotic Spine Surgery

eCential Robotics, a French company that makes a unified 2D/3D robotic imaging and surgical navigation for bone surgery, has begun a long-term partnership with spinal implant firm ChoiceSpine.
 
The two companies aim to offer a common optimized solution combining navigation, robotics, and implant systems.
 
eCential’s Robotics platform pulls together intraoperative 2D/3D imaging, navigation, and robotics on a single device. The open solution can cater to surgeon preference, and it’s built around a range of applications dedicated to spine surgery.
 
The company plans to pursue multiple bone surgery indications soon. The company’s 2D/3D robotic imaging earned FDA clearance last year, and the company conducted preclinical tests in the U.S. with neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons in Q1 2022. The firm has also launched the process to gain clearance for its navigation and collaborative robot (CoBot).
 
ChoiceSpine’s portfolio of hardware includes the Thunderbolt minimally invasive pedicle screw system and the Triton 3D-printed SI joint fixation system, BioBond 3D-printed interbodies, a shallow docking access system for direct lateral surgery, and multiple cervical fusion options. The orthobiologics portfolio offers 100% demineralized bone matrix, cortical fibers, synthetics, a cellular bone matrix, structural allograft, and allograft sponge options.
 
Navigation and robotics will make it possible to use specific features of ChoiceSpine’s portfolio.
