AAOS22: FDA OKs Lazurite’s ArthroFree Wireless Camera for MIS

Lazurite has gained U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for its ArthroFree wireless camera system. According to the company, it’s the first and only wireless camera system for minimally invasive surgery (MIS) to earn FDA market clearance.
 
ArthroFree uses proprietary low-heat, high-intensity Meridiem light tech with an advanced camera, battery, and wireless transmission. The modular system helps reduce setup/breakdown times and is drop-in compatible with patient data consoles, surgical displays, and endoscopes in minimally invasive operating rooms.
 
“I’ve had the opportunity to use the ArthroFree camera in the laboratory, and I’m absolutely amazed at the quality of the picture and the way the device feels in my hands,” Mark Schickendantz, M.D., director of the Center for Sports Health at the Cleveland Clinic and since 1992 team physician for the Cleveland Guardians baseball team told the press. “What’s incredible is to be able to use an arthroscope that doesn’t have the cumbersome cables. That is just absolutely incredible.”
 
Lazurite is offering pre-production demo models at this week’s American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) meeting at booth #2305.
