It was a product-centric week on ODT’s website.

New solutions in spinal fixation, fracture detection, and bone healing biologics drove website traffice over the past seven days.

Leading the charge was SurGenTec’s ION Screw, an FDA-cleared standalone spinal fixatiion implant used in the C2-L1 levels. The company claims the screw is the smallest posterior fixation implant cleared for spine surgery (it’s smaller than a dime). The screw is placed through a tiny incision with minimal tissue disruption. Proprietary Nanotex surface technology facilitates bone interdigitation.

Also gaining traction was the FDA 510(k) clearance scored by French imaging AI company GLEAMER for its software designed to identify fractures and traumatic injuries on X-rays. The company’s BoneView solution uses artificial intelligence to detect potential fractures and sends results to radiologists for confirmation. The software was approved in Europe in March 2020.

Evonik’s Vestakeep iC4800 3DF osteoconductive PEEK filament is a biomaterial from the Vestakeep Fusion product line, launched two years ago. The high-performance polymer features excellent biocompatibility and biostability as well as improved osteoconductive properties.

Conformis also garnered page views this week despite its lack of new product releases. The company was the first among orthopedic device developers to suspend product deliveries to Russia in the wake of the Ukrainian conflict. “The orthopedic industry strives to make life better for patients and their families. We feel empathy for the Russian people and potential patients of Conformis, who may have benefited from our products,” President and CEO Mark Augusti said. “However, given the unnecessary and unprovoked military invation of Ukraine instigated by the Russian leadership, we can lo longer in good conscience sell our products or services in the Russian market. We urge other global companies to respond in similar fashion. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Ukraine and the relatives of Conformis employees who live there.”
