AlloSource has released its AceConnex pre-sutured fascia device.

According to the company, it’s the only 510(k)-cleared pre-sutured fascia allograft for hip labral reconstruction and augmentation.

Compared to allografts in the operating room, the manufactured pre-sutured fascia is consistent, minimizes variability, and stays tightly bound, according to AlloSource. It’s meant for use as a components in soft tissue surgeries where constructs are used to reconstruct or augment the labrum.

Three trimmable lengths support segmental (40-60 mm and 60-100 mm) and circumferential (60-100 mm and 100-140 mm) labral construction procedures. Each device can be trimmed to fit the patient and surgeon’s specific sizing needs.

Further, each length is available in two different diameters—5-5.4 mm and 5.5-6 mm.

Dr. Winston Gwathmey, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopy of the shoulder, hip, and knee at the University of Virginia said eliminating a graft preparation step lets him focus more time and attention on rim prep and FAI correction.

“The graft handles well inside the joint and effectively recreates the labral anatomy,” Dr. Gwathmey told the press.

“AceConnex Pre-Sutured Fascia demonstrates AlloSource’s commitment to providing innovative products to support surgeons, in this case specifically hip arthroscopists,” said AlloSource president and CEO Dean Elliott. “With the positive feedback from surgeons who have used the product, we are excited to get it in the hands of more medical professionals, as we embark on this full launch.”
