This past year was big for FDA approvals of orthopedic devices and new CEO appointments.

The FDA gave Stryker 510(k) clearance for its Pangea systems as well as clearance for Moximed’s MISHA knee system.

Orthofix appointed Massimo Calafiore as its new president and CEO. Calafiore previously served as CEO to LimaCorporate S.p.A., and he also joins Orthofix’s Board of Directors. This appointment followed the termination of Keith Valentine, John Bostjancic, and Patrick Keran due to “engagement in reported inappropriate and offensive conduct.”

Acqusitions were also a popular topic this year as Zimmer Biomet acquired Embody Inc. in January, and Stryker began purchasing SERF SAS, the inventor of the Dual Mobility Cup.
