New products, new financing, and new(er) innovations were ODT’s digital darlings this past week.

Leading the way was the FDA clearance of Zynex’s new TensWave device, which provides pain relieve through TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation—a clinically proven process that reduces chronic and acute pain without needing medication. The TensWave device, according to Zynex, has a user-friendly, portable design that can be easily worked into patients’ routines and is a complementary product for patients whose insurance plans exclusively cover TENS therapy.

Paragon 28 produced plenty of pageviews by launching the R3FLEX stabilization system, which aims to restore ankle syndesmosis stability after an ankle fracture or high ankle sprain. Syndesmotic injuries are typically treated with cortical screws and, more recently, flexible fixation options that help accurately position and maintain reduction of the fibula relative to the tibia. R3FLEX allows precise adjustment and visualization of tension during repair, as needed, with a turn of the handle, the company said. The device’s design and functionality lets soft tissue be restored to a more natural anatomy, which can help mitigate arthritic response and reduce risk of hardware removal.

ODT’s feature on companies with unique products or technologies garnered significant cybervisitor interest, as did financial news from Hanger Ventures and Onward Medical.

Hanger Ventures drove traffic by backing Bionic Power, a Canadian firm developing active lower body smart orthotic devices, while Onward Medical followed suit with a grant receipt from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation to help expand its ongoing early feasibility study of using a brain-computer interface (BCI) to restore thought-driven hands and arms use after a spinal cord injury.
