Members of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons elected new leaders during the organization’s recent 69th Annual Scientific Conference.

At a business meeting during the four-day event last week, members selected seven of their colleagues to serve on the group’s Board of Directors. The new board was installed on March 10, the second day of the annual conference.

Members also elected a new president, president-elect and secretary-treasurer. Glenn W. Weinraub, D.P.M., F.A.C.F.A.S., a practicing surgeon in Fremont, Calif., was chosen to lead the 6,300-member organization.

“It is a great honor to be nominated to serve as president,” Weinraub said in a prepared statement. “I look forward to a productive year of professional and healthcare advancements to not only benefit the College and its members but also the patients we serve.”

Weinraub practices medicine in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery with The Permanente Medical Group. A brief biography of Weinraub supplied by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons describes him as a noted author, lecturer and a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Podiatric Medicine at Midwestern University’s Glendale, Ariz., campus. He earned his podiatric medical degree from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco and completed residencies at the Medical College of Virginia/INOVA Hospital and Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. Weinraub is certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery to conduct foot surgery and reconstructive rear foot/ankle procedures.

Michelle L. Butterworth, D.P.M., F.A.C.F.A.S., will serve as president-elect of the group for the next year. Butterworth practices medicine with Pee Dee Foot Center in Kingstree, S.C. She is certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery to conduct foot surgery and reconstructive rear foot/ankle procedures. Butterworth earned her podiatric medical degree from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, according to a short biography from the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. She completed her residency at the University of Pennsylvania Health System/Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia.

“Giving back to my colleagues, our profession and patients is very important to me. By serving as president-elect this term and as next year’s president, I hope to make a difference for our members, patients and the profession,” she said.

Jordan P. Grossman, D.P.M., F.A.C.F.A.S., was elected secretary-treasurer. He practices medicine with Northeast Ohio Orthopaedic Associates and, like his presidential colleagues, is certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery to conduct foot surgery and reconstructive rear foot and ankle surgery. He is a faculty member of the Orthopaedic Residency Program at Akron General Medical Center and the Podiatric Surgical Residency Program at Kaiser Permanente/Cleveland Clinic. Grossman also serves as a clinical assistant professor of podiatry in orthopaedic surgery at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, and is chief, Section of Podiatry, at Akron General Medical Center as well as at St. Thomas Hospital/Summa Health System, according to a biography from the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

“I am proud to have been elected to serve on the Board of Directors for ACFAS,” Grossman said. “ACFAS is an organization that is truly making a difference for the profession of foot and ankle surgery and I look forward to being a part of the collaboration that will continue the advancement.”

The group’s new board members include: Richard Derner, a practicing surgeon in Lake Ridge, Va.; Sean T. Grambart of Champaign, Ill.; Thomas S. Roukis of Tacoma, Wash.; Laurence G. Rubin of Mechanicsville, Va.; John S. Steinberg of Washington, D.C.; and Jerome K. Steck of Oro Valley, Ariz. Kimberly Eickmeier of Champaign, Ill., will serve as division presidents council chair.
