Active Implants Corporation Names Chief Financial Officer

J. Michael Keenan has joined the management team at Active Implants Corporation as chief financial officer and vice president of administration, according to the Mem-phis, Tenn.-based firm.

His breadth and depth of skills and experiences will be a terrific addition to our global executive team,” said Michael R. Mainelli, president and CEO of Active Implants.

In related news, Mainelli has been named to the board of directors at Orthofix International, a McKinney, Texas-based manufacturer of minimally invasive products for the spine.

Mainelli spent eight years with Kalamazoo, Mich.-based Stryker Corporation, including stints as president of Tokyo, Japan-headquartered Stryker Japan and Stryker Spine in Allendale, N.J.

Mainelli also has held management positions during his 12-year tenure with General Electric. He spent most of his time there in healthcare-related divisions, including seven years with GE Medical Systems and four years with GE’s Global Magnetic Resonance Imaging business.

“Michael’s broad experience in the medical device industry, including his extensive background in the spine segment, will provide tremendous value to the board,” said James F. Gero, Orthofix International’s board chairman.

US Spine Taps Sendro as Executive Vice President

US Spine has named Paul Sendro as executive vice president. He will oversee the company’s sales, marketing, professional education and business development efforts.

Sendro most recently served as president and CEO of Stratford, Conn.-based Vertebron Inc., which designs and supplies spinal implants. Before joining Vertebron, Sendro worked for six years at Blackstone Medical Inc., based in Springfield, Mass. He most recently served as vice president of domestic sales.
