EOS Imaging, which specializes in orthopedic 2-D/3-D imaging, continues to expand its technology’s reach with new installations in the United States and Germany. The company has installed one of its systems at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. This system will will be incorporated into regular clinical practice to obtain full-body, weight-bearing 2D/3D scans and enable improved diagnosis of musculoskeletal conditions. Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center ranked third of all U.S. children’s hospital by two entities – the 2013-14 list of best children’s hospitals published by U.S. News & World Report and Parents magazine’s 10 best children’s hospitals survey.Cincinnati Children’s also ranked among the top three hospitals for all of the six areas of pediatric subspecialty care surveyed, including second in the nation for orthopedic care. Cincinnati Children’s is also a founding member of the Alliance for Radiation Safety’s “Image Gently” campaign. The goal of the alliance and Image Gently, is to improve unsafe imaging practice by raising awareness of opportunities to lower radiation dose in the imaging of children. The EOS system provides full-body images of patients in a natural standing or seated position in both 2-D and 3-D. The system also delivers a radiation dose that the company says has been measured to be nine times lower than that of computed radiography X-ray and 20 times lower than basic CT scans in accordance with the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle of radiation reduction. As such, EOS officials claim the company’s system is the ideal mode of imaging for monitoring the treatment of pediatric scoliosis patients. “We are always proud to work with partners in the radiology community that focus on reducing radiation exposure in diagnosis, treatment planning and monitoring,” said Marie Meynadier, CEO of EOS Imaging. “Since our inception, EOS has been a pioneer in leading the way to safer radiographic imaging thanks to our proprietary detection technology. We are pleased that leading orthopedic and radiology departments like Cincinnati Children’s recognize our efforts and adopt the EOS system as the standard of care in responsible pediatric imaging.” An EOS Imaging system also has been installed at the Orthopaedic University Hospital Friedrichsheim in Frankfurt , a leading German university orthoaedic healthcare provider. OUHF is the first academic institution in Germany to install EOS equipment. The Orthopaedic University Friedrichsheim Hospital is ranked among the leading hospitals in Germany and has received numerous awards, including an award for orthopedic excellence by AOK, the country’s largest health insurance fund. EOS Imaging is authorized to market its system in 32 countries, including the United States, Japan, Canada, Australia and the European Union. The company is based in Paris, France, and has four subsidiaries: Besançon, France; Cambridge, Mass.; Montreal, Canada; and Frankfurt, Germany. EOS also has offices in Singapore.
