MTS makes Web-based inventory management and tracking system.
Medical Tracking Solutions Inc. (MTS) has added two more orthopedic companies to its roster of clients. The Jacksonville, Fla.-based firm has added NovaBone Products LLC and Custom Spine Inc. NovaBone Products is a privately held medical device company focused on developing bone graft substitutes based on advancements in biomedical engineering that would meet the specialized needs of orthopedic and dental surgeons. Custom Spine, based in Parsippany, N.J., is a privately held spinal implant firm. Medical Tracking Solutions makes the iTraycer inventory management system, which is used by medical device and biologic companies, and their distributors, to better manage the challenges of field inventory. According to the company, iTraycer does this through a customized SaaS Web-based suite, a good manufacturing practices-compliant receiver manager, and an intuitive mobile application. The iTraycer solution gives real-time visibility of each field inventory transaction, which can—company officials claim—improve sales efficiency and engagement, increasing operational efficiencies while reducing costs with improved cash flow. This can result in a 2-4 percent improvement in operating income, MTSofficials claim. Medical Tracking Solutions was established by a team with expertise in the areas of medical device sales, distribution, logistics, loaner kit processing and software development. The MTS team’s own intimate understanding of the medical industry’s challenges and the critical need for solving the many problems associated with field inventory, multi-level bill of material tracking, and mobile inventory, is what prompted the development of iTraycer. “NovaBone was looking for a tool to ease the pain of inventory tracking for our sales representatives,” said Arthur Wotiz, CEO NovaBone Products. “iTracyer proved the perfect fit, as it provides an easy to use mobile application that allows our sales reps a high tech way to track, sell, and replenish their inventory. As we grow, this functionality will not only ensure our sales team can focus on selling rather than counting and tracking product, but it also allows us to minimize our inventory needs and maximize our return on investment.” The iTraycer product provides a medical device-focused inventory management system that allows NovaBone’s sales team mobile access to their inventory, as well as the ability to remotely request replenishment or additional products. It also lets the sales team invoice at the point of use, saving time, and reducing the opportunities for missing sales transactions. “Novabone is such an exciting company for MTS to be working with,” said Stephen Bradley, CEO of Medical Tracking Solutions. “While our system was built around tracking medical device inventory that was placed into a tray or kit, Novabone’s needs were different, as they only manage their product at a SKU level, not at a kit level. Through the iTraycer system’s flexibility we were able to adapt to their workflows and provide a solution that meets their specific needs today, while also providing access to the functionality that will support their future needs and growth. ” “We are always looking to stay at the forefront of new technologies and the iTraycer product allows us to bring a cutting edge answer to our inventory and asset management challenges,” said Mahmoud Abdelgany, president of Custom Spine. “The software’s ease of use allows us to conduct transactions that exactly mimic our actual work flows. This provides a significant increase in efficiency and decrease in operator error, saving us money through better tracking of inventory and trending of inventory needs. It is a platform which will enable us to reduce our inventory needs even as we grow.” For Custom Spine, iTraycer tracks individual units within a part, to a tray, and into a kit. It provides centralized visibility to sales team inventory as well as the ability to request and track replenishment, additional products, and loaner kit shipments, according to Medical Tracking Solutions. “We couldn’t be more pleased to be working with Custom Spine,” said Bradley. “Custom Spine was looking for a partner to help them bring an innovative technology to address the challenges they were facing managing consigned inventory. We were a perfect fit for their business needs and they were a perfect fit for our company.”
