Three Orthopedic Technology Companies Make Deloitte Fast 500 List

Every year, professional services firm Deloitte LLP (Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Ltd.) releases a list of the 500 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and clean technology companies in North America. This year, three orthopedic companies made the list. The inclusion of MAKO Surgical Corporation (number 64), which makes robotic surgical systems for joint surgeries, shows that surgical robotics for orthopedics has been surging in popularity. Intuitive Surgical Inc., another surgical robotics company that focuses on non-orthopedic procedures, also made the list at number 479. NuVasive Inc., which makes minimally disruptive surgical products and procedures for the spine, made the list at number 482. Topping the list of orthopedic device companies is Bacterin International Holdings Inc. at number 36. Bacterin is an accredited tissue bank and develops bone graft material and coatings for medical applications.

Award winners were selected based on percentage fiscal year revenue growth from 2008 to 2012.

Company executives are, naturally, proud of the achievement.

Some other notable medical device companies included on this year’s list were Heartware Inc., a cardiac device company that made the list at number 7; Axogen Inc., a nerve repair company that came in at number 19, and molecular testing and diagnostic assays company GenMark Diagnostics Inc., at number 68. A total of 23 medical device companies made the list.
