Ascendx Spine Expands Distribution in Europe

The company expects to begin marketing its devices there imminently.

Winter Park, Fla.-based Ascendx Spine, a company that develops devices for vertebral compression fractures (VCFs), is expanding its distribution network to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal, Spain and France. The company received ISO 13485 certification and CE Mark approval for its VCF repair system and Acu-Cut vertebral augmentation system, and expects to begin commercial shipments to these markets very soon.

“We are expecting rapid market validation of our Ascendx VCF Repair System and the Acu-Cut Vertebral Augmentation System, both of which are designed for the treatment of spinal fractures,” said CEO Julian M. Mackenzie. “Our distribution partners in Europe will soon be able to offer spine surgeons and interventional radiologists a uniquely improved proprietary balloon kyphoplasty method designed to secure effective clinical outcomes for their patients with vertebral compression fractures.”
