Corin recently received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for OPSInsight, a cloud-based software program that enables surgeons to access and adjust customized pre-operative plans for total hip arthroplasty (THA). This interactive planning solution is the latest evolution of Corin’s Optimized Positioning System (OPS), which uses pre-operative functional imaging to enable surgeons to precisely plan optimal implant alignment, considering individual patient anatomy, spinopelvic mobility and functional biomechanics. Now, with OPSInsight, surgeons can not only interact with the OPS plan but can also access additional information, including advanced spinopelvic assessment, impingement analysis and radiodensity mapping. This level of insight is significant in providing implant placement that is personalised for each patient’s needs. Corin Chief Innovation Officer Jim Pierrepont, Ph.D., said, “Our belief is that OPSInsight is the new gold standard in THA planning. The possible depth of analysis is unparalleled, and key insights are presented in an intuitive and user-friendly interface to our surgeons. We believe this level of planning is a necessity to improve outcomes in THA”. “OPSInsight takes 3D dynamic planning for THA to a new level. It is an extremely powerful tool that allows surgeons to see in real time the effects of changing component size and orientation on fit, hip length/offset, and risk of impingement. OPSInsight is a key technology of Corin’s connected digital ecosystem, CorinConnect. The personalised technologies deployed within CorinConnect generate actionable insights, pre-, intra- and post-operatively. These insights are combined and presented back to the surgeon on a customised dashboard, augmenting their clinical decision making, with a vision to improving future patient outcomes. In March, Corin’s OMNIBotics robotic-assisted platform reached the 25,000 total knee arthroplasties(TKA) milestone, including 5,000 procedures using the BalanceBot ligament balancing robotic device. The BalanceBot uniquely enables surgeons to balance knee joints by understanding feedback from soft tissue and ligaments throughout the entire range of motion. The BalanceBot is used in the Predictive Balance technique in order to accurately predict the effect that implant positioning will have on knee gaps in flexion, extension and midflexion. More precise ligament balance allows surgeons to target knee gaps that correlate with better outcomes and less pain.1,2 The platform can also be used intra-operatively to assess the patient’s overall knee stability throughout the full range of motion with the joint in-situ.
