GS Medical USA Announces Executive Leadership Changes
GS Medical USA LLC (GSM), a manufacturer and global supplier of spinal implants, instrumentation and surgical solutions, is reshuffling its executive team.

S.K. Hong will lead GSM’s international sales, and will serve a dual role in managing the company’s U.S. business as vice president of operations. To sharpen GSM’s strategic initiatives and drive new sales growth across the company, Mark Cohen has been named vice president of sales for the United States. Joseph Jin has been named interim executive vice president, and will focus on aligning sales and marketing directives within the Americas.

“GS Medical is well-positioned to capitalize on the strength and experience of the leadership team to support the further development of our organization and efforts within the U.S. and Americas,” said James Shin, CEO of GS Medical Co. Ltd. and GS Medical USA LLC. “These changes will have a positive impact on our long-term plans for continued profitable growth, greater productivity, and geographic expansion.”

GSM also announced the company’s year-end financials, including a double-digit revenue growth over fiscal 2012. GSM attributes the strong growth to new product launch cycles, product extensions, and new distribution partnerships. Executives also attached the robust sales revenue to the launch of the company’s AnyPlus MIS NX, a percutaneous spinal fixation system designed and manufactured in the United States.

“We are committed to building out the MIS platform, instrumentation and processes as it relates to this surgical approach,” said Cohen. “Additionally, GSM is continuing its investment in an ongoing education initiative by hosting quarterly cadaveric MIS (minimally invasive surgery) training in international locales such as Thailand this June, and in other Asia-Pacific markets, and two MIS Bio Skills Labs in the U.S. later this year.”

“GSM is in a strong position to achieve greater market share in the U.S.,” said Jin. “In line with GS Medical Co. Ltd., based in South Korea, which has achieved worldwide recognition in the spinal implant market since 1990, our strategic initiative is aimed at delivering and expanding a number of surgical solutions for the neurosurgery and orthopedic markets in North America.”

GS Medical USA, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of South Korea-based GS Medical Co. Ltd., the country’s largest spinal implant manufacturer and distributor.
