NASS News: NGMedical to Showcase its Cervical Artificial Disc Prosthesis

MOVE-C enables physiological movement in all six degrees of freedom with axial damping and progressive increase in resistance.

NGMedical GmbH is presenting its articulating viscoelastic cervical artificial disc, MOVE-C, and other spinal solutions at the North American Spine Society Annual Meeting this week in Chicago.
 
Enrollment for the multi-center one- and two-level clinical trial will be completed shortly and will ultimately provide the clinical data for a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Pre-Market Approval submission (upon completion of a follow-up period). MOVE-C features a unique design concept aiming for physiological motion by combining an articulating surface and a viscoelastic core. This concept allows a defined neutral zone and progressive resistance to motion. 
 
“We cannot wait to present MOVE-C with an extensive line of footprints as well as our exclusive fusion portfolio to the medical audience at the annual meeting. Visitors can expect most advanced solutions for their needs,” NGMedical CEO Peter Weiland said.
 
NGMedical is an owner-managed company in Germany developing spinal implants; its team has been developing product systems since 2001. NGMedical was formed from the company Advanced Medical Technologies AG, which was acquired by Medtronic in 2012. In cooperation with experienced surgeons and scientists, the company produces motion-preserving and fusion implants. All product developments are continuously documented with scientific proof. 

In 2021, NGMedical won FDA clearance for its purely additively manufactured titanium cervical BEE cage, which challenges the limits of additive manufacturing. The purposefully designed honeycomb endplate design reduces the risk of subsidence while allowing fusion. The honeycomb structure allows for bony ingrowth and demonstrates the reduced use of titanium minimizing risks of X-ray artifacts, while offering a very large graft space.
