Founded by the company in 2010, the coalition seeks to decrease musculoskeletal health disparities among women, racial and ethnic minorities and women living in rural communities. The new non-profit organization will continue its focus on raising awareness of the impact of disparities on chronic disease management and quality of life through programs that focus on early intervention, education, behavior change and advocacy.

Playing second fiddle to Zimmer’s philanthropic effort was two-year two-year study results for Exactech’s Vantage Ankle Fixed Bearing System. The two-year minimum clinical outcome study included 22 patients with an average of 24.6 months follow-up; the data show positive results—a statistically significant reduction in pain scores, low complication rates, and a 100 percent implant survivorship at short-term follow-up.

The official opening of NuVasive Inc.’s Singapore Experience Center for the Asia-Pacific region was the next item to drive website traffic, followed by a rosy forecast for the global pedicle screw systems market, and the development of a microfluidic-based soft rubber robotic prosthetic developed by Canadian scientists that promises to greatly reduce skin ulcerations and pain in patients who have had an amputation between the ankle and knee.

Global Market Insights Inc. estimates the pedicle screw systems market’s value to reach $3.4 billion in 2027, expanding 3.2% annually. Growth drivers include the rising prevalence of spinal cord injuries and surgeries as well as increasing cases of degenerative diseases.
