Corporate and product-related firsts were first among ODT website visitors this past week.

Zimmer Biomet was the pageview champ, commanding attention for its first limited distribution agreement for Think Surgical’s TMINI miniature robotic system for total knee arthroplasty. The agreement creates an exclusive offering to integrate Zimmer Biomet technology into a customized TMINI robotic solution. TMINI will complement Zimmer Biomet’s flagship ROSA robotics portfolio with a handheld, wireless, robotic option that uses a predetermined, computed tomography-based, 3D surgical plan for accurate implant placement.

Nanochon drove considerable site traffic, too, with news of its $4 million series seed prime fundraising round. The company plans to use the funds to begin its first in human clinical trials this year in the United States, deepen research and development efforts, expand the company’s patent profile, and grow its team. Nanochon’s phase I trial will analyze the efficacy of its Chondrograft patented knee implant. The device regrows damaged cartilage and bone in an effort to avoid costly full knee replacements, which often have a long recovery time.

Exactech, on the other hand, enticed cybervisitors by announcing the first surgeries with its Equinoxe PHx system. Earning FDA 510(k) clearance in September 2023, the product features a proximal humerus plate locking system that lets surgeons accommodate different fractures. The 20-plate system touts the company’s Exac-Loc screws with patented technology that uses deployable, retractable talons to increase the fixation’s surface area into the proximal humeral bone.

Other items of interest to website loyalists this past week included Medartis’ search for a new CEO, and an in-depth look at xenografts—tissue made of bone procured from animal products (bovine, etc.) that work similarly to allografts (bone procured from cadaveric donation).
