Nothing frightening about this past week’s most popular pageviews: new products and procurement drove ODT website traffic.

AMETEK led the way with its $1.9 billion acquisition of single-use/consumable instrument and implantable component provider Paragon Medical. The company posted annual sales of around $500 million and is headquartered in Pierceton, Ind.

New product news gaining favor with cybervisitors came from Exactech, Corin Group, Ortho Development Corporation, and Medacta. Exactech won over viewers with the FDA 510(k) clearance of its 3D-printed tibial implants, the Vantage ankle 3D and 3D+. The new implants offer further tibial height options for total ankle replacements. Both are 3D-printed and designed with a porous surface that mimics subchondral bone and feature spiked pegs and a center bone cage of various lengths for initial fixation. Vantage ankle 3D+ is a stemmed implant with 15, 20, 25, and 30mm options.

Similarly, Corin Group attracted notice with the FDA 510(k) clearance of its Apollo robotic-assisted surgical platform and ApolloKnee software application. Corin said the Apollo platform technology will expand the company’s capabilities into further clinical applications across joint arthroplasty in the next few years. The company seeks to enhance total joint replacement patient satisfaction via objective planning, precise implantation, and data-driven continuous learning.

Ortho Development Corporation gained favor for launching BKS Uni, the latest addition to its portfolio of Balanced Knee implant systems. BKS Uni is a partial knee replacement system designed to preserve bone, simplify surgical technique, and leverage the clinical heritage of the Balanced Knee System. Medacta followed suit by debuting GMK SpheriKA, a kinematic alignment (KA)-optimized femoral component for total knee replacement. Kinematic alignment restores the native pre-arthritic alignment via anatomic resurfacing, minimizing ligament releases, and allowing more natural knee kinematic.
